The Indian team has produced some of the greatest batsmen of all time. There hasn’t been any dearth of quality batsmen but their performances outside Asia has always been under the microscope. This is because Indian batsmen are brought up on slow pitches and conditions outside Asia are alien for them.
The Indian batsmen who perform well outside Asia earn the respect of both fans and pundits. There have been a lot of Indian batsmen with a fantastic record outside Asia. While Zimbabwe is outside Asia, we have not considered them because of their relatively poor standard. So let us look at batsmen with best averages in the Tests outside Asia
5. Virat Kohli – 44.84
Virat Kohli is one of the best batsmen of this generation. While the Indian captain has an incredible record in ODIs, his record in Tests needs improvement in some countries. Kohli’s average in these countries is much less than his career average of 53.6 in Tests.
While his record is exceptional in Australia and South Africa, his record in New Zealand, England, and the West Indies has a scope for improvement. Kohli has scored 12 centuries in these countries, and he would need to score a few more to rise in the list.
