BCCI Has Got A Brand New Offer For IPL 2020

IPL 2020: The much-awaited 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League was suspended because of the Coronavirus pandemic, which has shaken the whole world and has taken the lives of lakhs of people around the world.

So far, the dangerous disease has infected 75,048 people in India ad considering how fast the numbers of Coronavirus infected people are growing, there’s still no clarity over when things will get back to normal and cricket and other sporting events will resume again.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has offered to host the 13th season of the Indian Premier League in UAE. Well, this proposal from ECB has come after the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) expressed their interest in hosting India’s cash-rich league.

Confirming the news, the BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal revealed:

The UAE has offered to host the IPL if we want them to. But right now when there is no international travel, there is no question of taking a call on that,”

Well, this won’t be the first time when IPL will be held overseas, back in the year 2009, the IPL session was held in South Africa and was completed inside 37 days.

Furthermore, Arun Dhumal cleared the air by telling us that nothing can be decided at this stage when the entire world travel has come to a standstill. He revealed:

“The health and security of players and all participants is our priority. At the moment, the entire world travel has come to a standstill, so there is nothing we can decide at this stage,” 

Meanwhile, the BCCI has been discussing hosting the IPL abroad via informal channels. As per the reports, BCCI is looking for a window for later this year for hosting the IPL 2020. In any case, the franchises stand to lose out on revenue from gate receipts as even if the tournament takes place in India, it will be held behind the doors.
