Unlike tennis, where women athletes are always leading and are well treated, the game of cricket has always been considered a male sport. Though the first-ever women’s test match took place way back in the year 1934, but the women cricket has still not able to get the much deserving recognition in the international level as compared to men. Despite this, the women cricketers have made significant records set in the cricket world.

1. Youngest to score a century:

Former Pakistani cricketer, Shahid Afridi’s name was etched in the record books for being the youngest cricketer to have smashed a century in international cricket. It was during the match against Sri Lanka in 1996 when Afridi was only 16 years and 217 days old.

However, his record was shattered by former India skipper Mithali Raj, who scored a century in Ireland in the year 1999, when she was only 16-years and 205 days old. It has been only 20 years but no one has been able to break this record yet.

2. Youngest to score a double century:

Amelia Kerr, New Zealand’s batter holds the record for being the youngest cricketer to score a double century in international cricket. She was only 17 years old, when she scored 232 runs off 145 runs, with the help of 31 fours and 2 sixes against Denmark in the year 2018.

3. Record for playing the most number of ODI matches:

West Indies wicketkeeper Nolan Clarke holds the record for being the oldest cricketer to play an ODI match. Clarke played the last ODI at the age of 47 years and 257 days. Although she is now 63 years old.

4. Record of taking at least one wicket in most consecutive T20 matches:

India’s fast bowler Radha Yadav holds the record for taking at least one or more wickets in 24 consecutive matches in the shortest format of the game.

5. Highest percentage runs in an innings:

Enid Bakewell holds a very unique record in the cricket world. Bakewell is the only cricketer to score the highest percentage of runs in an innings of a test match. Bakewell once scored an unbeaten 112 runs and helped his team post a total of 164 runs. During this innings, she scored 68.29 percent of his team’s score.
