Jamaica and Guyana have always been arch rivals in the domestic cricket of West Indies and now the rivalry has intensified even more with the CPL. The fact that some of the mega-stars of West Indies cricket are involved with these teams means it’s always one of the most anticipated games of the CPL.
With these two heavyweight sides taking on each other in the second game of another double header in the CPL on Saturday, we have got some fantasy cricket tips for you.
Here are our fantasy cricket tips for game 8 of CPL 2020 –
The pitch at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy has always been a bit slow and it has not been behaving any different in this tournament. It’s not easy to play the big shots against those who can vary their pace and lengths.
It’s the kind of surface which demands calculative stroke-play rather than belligerent stroke-play.
Predicted Playing XI of both teams
Guyana Amazon Warriors
Brandon King, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Shimron Hetmyer, Ross Taylor, Nicholas Pooran, Sherfane Rutherford, Chris Green (C), Keemo Paul, Imran Tahir, Romario Shepherd and Naveen-ul-Haq
Chadwick Walton, Glenn Phillips, Andre Russell, Jermaine Blackwood, Rovman Powell (C), Carlos Brathwaite, Asif Ali, Ramaal Lewis, Fidel Edwards, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman and Sandeep Lamichhane
Glenn Phillips has threatened to take the game away from the opposition right since the very first game as he has come and absolutely creamed everything from the middle of the bat, but he has not been able to convert the starts yet. However, the kind of form he is in, a big knock doesn’t seem too far away.
Asif Ali has looked in really fine form as well, as he has struck the ball with a lot of power and has shown good game-sense at the same time. Despite the fact that his performance at the international level hasn’t been satisfactory, Asif has always been a very dangerous player in the T20 leagues across the globe.
Andre Russell has struggled a little bit with his timing so far with the bat. The power-shots have not been on show as the bowlers have had the measure of him, but given the kind of ability he has, the veteran all-rounder can’t be kept quiet for long period of time. He is due for a big one as well.
The Afghan youngster Naveen ul Haq has caught the eyes of a lot of people in this CPL because of his unorthodox action. He is not the fastest bowler in the tournament by any means, but because of the fact that he doesn’t have a conventional bowling action, it’s really difficult for the batsmen to pick the length against him.
Naveen has got some wonderful variations and he mixes it up really well, while bowling up front as well as in the death.
