CPL 2020 Fantasy Cricket Tips: Match 14, Jamaica Tallawahs vs Barbados Tridents

The reigning champions Barbados Tridents are currently at the bottom of the points table having lost 3 out of their 4 games so far. They had made a wonderful start to their campaign with a victory in the first game, but they have gone downwards ever since.

Jamaica Tallawahs, on the other hand, are in a much better position as they have won 2 and lost 2 out of the 4 games they have played and they are well and truly on track to qualify for the playoffs.

Here are our fantasy cricket tips for Match 14 of CPL 2020:

Pitch Report

Jamaica Tallwahs would hope that the surface plays a bit better than how it played last night in their game against Guyana Amazon Warriors. Although the Tallawahs won that game, but it was definitely not an ideal surface for the shortest format of the game.

They are expected to play on a different strip tonight, beside the strip that was used last night and it might offer a bit more carry to the bowlers.

Predicted XI of both teams

Barbados Tridents

Johnson Charles, Shai Hope, Corey Anderson, Kyle Mayers, Jason Holder (C), Jonathan Carter, Raymon Reifer, Mitchell Santner, Rashid Khan, Ashley Nurse and Hayden Walsh

Jamaica Tallawahs

Chadwick Walton, Glenn Phillips, Rovman Powell (C), Andre Russell, Asif Ali, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Mujeeb ur Rehman, Sandeep Lamichhane, Oshane Thomas and Veerasammy Permaul

Top picks

This is one of those games where it’s better to go with two wicket-keepers rather than just one because both Johnson Charles and Glenn Phillips have been absolutely belting the ball and since both of them are openers as well, they always have time in their hands to go big.

The Jamaica skipper Rovman Powell is not one of those players who just rely on their power. He has got a bit of skill as well to go with his power and hence, he is one of the vital cogs in the Jamaica middle order. Rovman will be really disappointed that he has not really come to the fore in this tournament yet, but as the tournament approaches its second half, he might find his form.

Jason Holder and Andre Russell are no-brainer selections from the all-rounder’s category based on their quality and form. While Holder is chipping in with both bat and ball in almost every game for the Tridents, Russell has also looked ominous in the last couple of games.

Fidel Edwards is a veteran now, but he continues to get that wonderful shape away from the right-handers with the new ball and it was him who rocked the Guyana Amazon Warriors early in yesterday’s game. Jamaica will expect another penetrative spell from the old dog upfront.

Mujeeb has proven to be almost unplayable in the two games that he has played for Guyana and he might be a big difference against the Tridents as welll. He always had a lot of variety in his repertoire, but the way the Afghan youngster is executing them in this tournament, it’s a treat to watch.
