IPL 2020: 10 Best Tweets On CSK’s Victory Over Mumbai Indians

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pulled off a surprising result against the reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the opening game of IPL 2020, courtesy some wonderful batting by Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis, both of whom scored match-winning half-centuries for the men in yellow.

This is CSK’s first victory over MI in the last 6 games. They had lost all 5 games against MI last season.

Earlier today, CSK won the toss and decided to field first. Mumbai Indians got to a flier of a start, but CSK managed to pull it back after a while, courtesy Piyush Chawla who removed the MI skipper Rohit Sharma.

MI made a strange selection call as well, as they picked Saurabh Tiwary ahead of the young sensation Ishan Kishan in the playing XI. That decision certainly raised a few eyebrows, but Tiwary justified the decision to some extent as he scored a gritty 31-ball 42 to keep the scoreboard ticking for MI in the middle phase of the innings.

Hardik Pandya walked out to bat at no.5 and the way he launched two back to back sixes off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja first up, it seemed he might be up to something big. However, Pandya was dismissed by Jadeja later as he tried to clear the long-off fence only to find Faf du Plessis in the way.

CSK kept chipping away with wickets in the latter stages of the innings as none of the MI power-packed finishers could provide the much needed finishing touch to the MI innings.

Kieron Pollard was looking in decent touch, but he eventually nicked it behind the stumps to MS Dhoni in the penultimate over of the innings.

Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the CSK bowlers with 3 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja also got a couple of scalps to his name, while Piyush Chawla and Sam Curran got one each.
