Harbhajan Singh Slams The Selectors For Doing An Injustice To Ambati Rayudu: Chennai Super Kings star batsman Ambati Rayudu gave a stellar performance and helped his team win their first match of IPL 2020. His performance once again gained him accolades of praises and also re-ignited the debate on his selection for World Cup 2019.

For the unversed, it was in the year 2018 when Ambati Rayudu played his most successful IPL season. However, despite his brilliant performances in the 2018 and 2019 season of IPL, Ambati Rayudu wasn’t included on the national side for World Cup 2019.

Ambati Rayudu’s omission from India’s playing squad for the World Cup tournament in England last year came as a big shock for everyone as the cricketer was expected to be India’s choice for the no. 4 positions. However, he was replaced by allrounder Vijay Shankar. Major disappointment came when Shikhar Dhawan was injured amidst the tournament and Rishabh Pant was called as his replacement.

Now, Ambati Rayudu was at his best elements once again, as he gave another stunning performance in the season opener and scored 71 runs against Mumbai Indians in the IPL opener to give his side a 5-wicket win. As a result, Ambati won was named Player of the Match.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh praised the performance of Ambati in the opening game and said that he deserved a spot in the World Cup squad last year. He said:

“The partnership between Rayudu and Du Plessis was the game-changing moment for Chennai Super Kings. We have made a bright start and we need to keep moving forward like this,”

He added:

“I remember that when we had won the IPL two years back, we had defeated Mumbai Indians in the first game. So, it is a good omen for us and I hope we will finish well again.”

Further, Harbhajan Singh said that Rayudu not getting selected for World Cup 2019 was an ‘injustice’ done to him. He said:

“It will be less however much you appreciate Rayudu. I feel there was an injustice done to him when the World Cup team was picked. He should have been definitely there in that team. But he has shown again in this match, how much ability he has and that age is on one side and talent is also something that needs to be looked at,”
