In a thriller of the highest order that saw Mumbai and Royal Challengers Bangalore go toe to toe until that dying ember, Bangalore pulled off a brilliant victory, thanks to an incredible super over from Navdeep Saini who flipped the momentum back in RCB’s favour despite a resonating carnage crafted by Pollard and Ishan Kishan.
Bangalore batted first and were off to a blinder as Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal smoked the Mumbai bowlers in the powerplay. Once, Finch was removed, Padikkal took it upon him to ensure the continuation of momentum while Kohli was taken off from the other side.
AB De Villiers arrived to the crease next and got himself settled as Padikkal carried on with some brilliant batting at the other end. Things finally boiled down to ABD and Shivam Dubey who hauled 78 off the final four overs to take Bangalore to a mammoth 201.
Mumbai Indians were jolted to a rude awakening as they lost three early wickets in the form of Rohit Sharma, Quinton De Kock and Suryakumar Yadav as they were left wobbling at 39 for 3.
Despite Ishan Kishan rooting the anchor at the other end, Hardik Pandya lost himself in cursory as Adam Zampa scalped him.
That was the last time that Bangalore would smile in the game until the super over would happen. Pollard and Ishan Kishan started peppering the bowlers all over the park as the duo stitched an incredulous partnership of 119 runs off just 51 balls. Kishan got out for a blistering 99 on the penultimate ball of the innings, holing out to Padikkal in the deep.
The West Indian batsman smashed Isuru Udana for a boundary in the last ball to end things in a stalemate. As the super over started, RCB came up trumps as Navdeep Saini bowled a fine over that saw Mumbai wringing out only 7 runs from it which is a below par score, going by the standards of a super over.
The super over was also of the highest standards as the chase went down to the final ball to settle the affairs with De Villiers hammering it to the ropes.
Twitter simply couldn’t keep calm as we witnessed one of the finest games of cricket in this year’s IPL.

I'm happy that the fake crowd in the stadium is firmly on RCB's side.
