MS Dhoni Proves He Was And Will Always Remain ‘Captain Cool’

MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings managed to take away the opening match with a blockbuster performance from their squad, beating the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets. Men in Yellow successfully chased down 163 runs, riding on the powerful performances of Ambati Rayudu (71) and Faf du Plessis (58*), who stabilized things for the team.

Earlier, the team got off with a poor start as the fielders came under the scanner. Though, both the teams were rusty in the field, however, Deepak Chahar’s performance disappointed many. Deepak Chahar had made a mistake and conceded 4 runs, however, it was the reaction of skipper MS Dhoni, that stole all the hearts. MS Dhoni proved that he was and he will always remain ‘Captain Cool’.

Well, the incident took place during the 19th over of the innings when James Pattinson swatted the third ball of the over to deep mid-wicket. Deepak Chahar, who was stationed at mid-wicked and had to move towards right in order to get hold of the ball, failed and ended up conceding a boundary.

Those runs turned out to be a bonus for the defending champions, who were already seven wickets down and for the same reason MS Dhoni should have been disappointed with Chahal, instead, he remained calm. Soon after Chahar’s mistake, the cameras turned to him and he stayed calm and cool as if nothing happened.

However, CSK bowlers soon bounced back as they kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. The major highlight of the first innings was MS Dhoni introducing Piyush Chawla in the powerplay, who took a major wicket by dismissing the MI skipper Rohit Sharma. Apart from Chawla, Deepak Chahar and Lungi Ngidi also picked wickets in their respective second spells.

Later in the second innings, the duo of Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis played a stunning partnership as they helped their team to win the season opener.
