MS Dhoni reveals the real reason why Ambati Rayudu is not a part of playing XI

Ambati Rayudu

Chennai Super Kings started their IPL campaign with a scintillating victory against Mumbai Indians in the first match. The side chased a tricky total with relative ease. Former Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu stitched a solid partnership with former South African skipper Faf Du Plessis in the run chase. The Indian batsman who many believe was unlucky to be dropped from the World Cup squad proved his worth in the first game after playing an amazing inning of 71 runs. Ambati Rayudu won the man of the match in the first match and seemed like the mainstay of Chennai’s batting.

However, fans were surprised when they did not see Rayudu’s name in the team sheet of Chennai Super Kings. There were many speculations over his name. However, MS Dhoni, the skipper of CSK revealed the real reason of Ambati Rayudu’s absence. He told that Ambati Rayudu suffered a niggle in the practice and was not feeling 100% fit in the game. Dhoni said “We have one change – Rayudu is not 100 percent, so Ruturaj comes in his place,”

Ruturaj Gaikwad Replaces Ambati Rayudu in the playing XI:

The Maharashtrian right-hander Ruturaj Gaikwad replaced Ambati Rayudu is the first XI. Gaikwad who was tested positive for Covid-19 recently will be making his debut in IPL. The player impressed in the domestic competitions and was expected to open the innings for the side after the departure of Suresh Raina who had to leave the tournament midway due to his family emergencies.

In the absence of Rayudu, the top order of Chennai Super Kings look a little light and it may prompt MS Dhoni to come higher up the order. The major responsibility of chasing the total will come on Du Plessis and Dhoni after a brilliant start from Rajashthan Royals’ Steve Smith and Sanju Samson. Sanju Samson has started off brilliantly after scoring a half-century in just 19 balls.
