Shubman was also a part of the Indian squad that toured New Zealand earlier this year, however, during that tournament Prithvi Shaw was preferred over him. He has been backed by several cricketers including Yuvraj Singh, who believes that the Punjab lad possesses a lot of talent and commitment.

During the previous edition of the Indian Premier League, Shubman impressed everyone with his stunning performance and had scored 296 runs at an average of 33. If he is able to perform as per the expectations in the ongoing tournament, he might get a place in the playing XI of the Indian cricket team.
