3 players SRH can sign in mid-season transfer window

Sunrisers Hyderabad

With all the 8 teams having played 7 games each now, the mid-season transfer window of IPL is open and will remain active for the next five days during which the teams will be allowed to trade the players in and out depending on their requirements.

Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the teams which would be looking forward to make use of this mid-season transfer window as they are currently in the bottom half of the table with just 6 points and they clearly have a couple of loopholes in their line-up.

Here are the 3 players SRH might sign during the IPL mid-season transfer window –

#1 Mayank Marknade

SRH is clearly lacking penetration in their bowling attack at the moment and Rashid Khan is probably the only attacking bowler that they have. They might contemplate the possibility of pairing Rashid with another leg spinner and try and fetch more wickets in the middle phase of the innings.

Mayank Markande is a different kind of leg spinner to Rashid. He is an old school leg spinner who tosses the ball above the eyeline of the batsman unlike Rashid who bowls into the pitch and bowls more wrong ones than his stock delivery.

Markande’s arrival might add a different dimension to the SRH attack and might take a little bit of pressure off the fast bowlers as well.

#2 Varun Aaron

After Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s departure, SRH is also lacking an experienced Indian fast bowler with a little bit of pace. Currently all the Indian fast bowlers that SRH has bowls with the same sort of speed, that is somewhere between 130 to 135 KPH. Varun Aaron is capable of cranking it up to 145 KPH and he has also got a lot of experience of playing in the IPL over the years.

Another thing about Varun is that he is a wicket-taking bowler. One of the weaknesses of SRH attack is that they don’t really have the tools to make an impact with the new ball, but Varun can do that for them as he bowls attacking lengths. He might go for a few runs early on, but if he delivers a couple of wickets, his economy rate won’t hurt SRH too much.

#3 Manan Vohra

Sunrisers Hyderabad has got some talented domestic Indian batsmen, but most of them are inexperienced and teenagers at the moment and are playing in the IPL for the first time. So, the SRH management might think about bringing Manan Vohra in from Rajasthan Royals.

Vohra might not have played international cricket for India yet, but he has got a lot of IPL experience and if he joins the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad in the mid-season transfer window, SRH can probably slot him at no. 3 and use Manish Pandey as a finisher at no. 6 which will add a bit more depth and experience to their batting line-up.

Vohra is eligible for mid-season transfer because he has not played a single game for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020. Any player who has played less than two games for his parent franchise can be traded in by the other franchises.
