It was an AB de Villiers show last night at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium during the clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Riding on the powerful performance of Mr. 360, RCB won the match with a huge margin of 82 runs.
At the sluggish and slow-pitch conditions of Sharjah, only AB de Villiers could have given a blistering performance like he gave last night. AB de Villiers showed his masterclass once again as he formed an amazing partnership with the skipper Virat Kohli. The dynamic duo took the game by storm. However, it was the performance of AB de Villiers, that made everyone sit on the edge of their seats.
AB de Villiers smashed back-to-back fours and sixes and was able to bring up his fifty in only 23 deliveries. The duo remained unbeaten till the last ball of the innings. While AB de Villiers scored 73 off 33 balls, smashing 5 fours and 6 sixes. On the other hand, Virat Kohli scored 33 off 28 balls.

Later, RCB bowlers were able to defend the target scores by giving an exceptional performance as they collapsed the batting line up of Kolkata Knight Riders and not giving up a chance to get going through-out there innings.
After the match, during the post-match presentation, de Villiers talked about his performance and what went through his mind during his powerful knock. He expressed how he felt terrible when he was dismissed on a duck but is now happy after contributing to the victory. He said
“Very happy with the performance. Got a duck in the last game, a terrible feeling. Very happy that I contributed. Surprised myself out there tonight. Knew the wicket was quite tough to bat on. But I thought 145-150 wasn’t enough. So I looked to go further, and was surprised to get 195. They’ve got a really good bowling attack. The margins are small and you have to use every bit of energy. As Virat said there was a light in my eye, felt it in the bus itself. Always enjoyed takng the gloves. Very excited about it, I must say. I do bounce off ideas with Virat. “
Talking about the performance of the bowlers from the wicket-keeper’s point of view, AB de Villiers said:
“As a keeper you have a really good view of the pace of the game. Different skills completely. It depends. Have worked really hard with the gloves. Want to be the best I could, that’s always been my attitude.”
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore will be seen playing against Kings XI Punjab on Thursday, i.e, 15th October. It will be interesting to see if AB will be able to continue with his amazing form in the upcoming match as well.
