MI vs CSK: Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are the two most successful teams of the IPL, having won the title four and three times, respectively. Whenever these two teams lock their horns with each other, the match turns out to be a thriller one.
A similar thrill was expected in the ongoing match between CSK and MI as fans were waiting for the second clash between the two teams. However, it was yet another disastrous performance by MS Dhoni and company.
Chennai Super Kings, a team that has lifted the prestigious trophy of the Indian Premier League three times is playing its worst season in IPL history.

In a highly anticipated match against Mumbai Indians, Dhoni and his squad failed to perform once again and the game turned out to be a one-sided one. Mumbai Indians dominated the game from the word ‘go’. It was for the first time in the ongoing edition of the IPL, MS Dhoni & Co lost 5 batsmen in the powerplay, scoring just 24 runs off the first six overs.
As the wickets were falling in quick successions, the fans were praying that the team somehow manages to score a target of more than 49 runs. Well, for the unversed, ’49’ is the lowest-scoring runs given by any team in the history of the Indian Premier League.
It was in the year 2017 when Royal Challengers Bangalore were all out for just 49 in 9.4 overs while chasing a target of 132 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. A team that consisted of some of the best hitters in cricket including the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, failed miserably to perform.
Meanwhile, as CSK batsmen were getting dismissed in quick successions, social media was flooded with ’49 runs’ jokes. Here, check out some of them:

However, CSK were finally able to get past the devil ’49’ target. CSK via its official Twitter handle came up with a hilarious reaction to the same. CSK wrote:
“At least, the 49 fiasco was averted”
