CSK Lost The Match Against KKR Because Of A Tactical Mistake Made By MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni Made A Big Mistake Against CSK: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost the match against Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) from a winning position and this has made their fans very angry. Right from the start of the season, CSK have looked very rusty and they have been been able to finalize their best playing XI.

After the match, CSK’s skipper MS Dhoni said that their batters let the bowlers down. Dhoni also said he CSK batters allowed the opposition bowlers to bowl at them and helped them in putting pressure.

Here’s what MS Dhoni said after the match:

“In the middle overs, there was a phase where they bowled 2-3 good overs. If we batted better and didn’t lose 2-3 wickets in a row. We should’ve been careful in the first 5-6 overs. Curran was really good with the ball, and I think we did well in general with the ball, but the batsmen let the bowlers down today,” MS Dhoni said.

Rotation of strike was important, but I think there were hardly any boundaries in the final few overs, so we need to be innovative at the end when they are continuously hitting a back of a length. That’s where we need to adapt better with the bat and I don’t think we did that,” MS Dhoni added.

But, the biggest mistake MS Dhoni and CSK made was in deciding their batting order. CSK’s middle-order has been under a lot of pressure in IPL 2020 and this match proved that they need to do some serious introspection if they want to qualify for the playoffs.

IPL 2020

There was a time when CSK needed 39 runs off 21 balls and CSK decided to send Kedar Jadhav ahead of Dwayne Bravo. Jadhav scored 7 runs off 12 balls and the match almost ended there.

It was a very poor decision because Kedar Jadhav is horribly out of form and it was very tricky to send a struggling batter in.

On the other hand, Dwayne Bravo is an accomplished finisher and he was motivated after giving a brilliant performance with the bowl. The Cricket Lounge believes that CSK should have sent Dwayne Bravo ahead of Kedar Jadhav in that kind of a situation.

KKR’s skipper Dinesh Karthik was very happy with his team’s performance and here’s what he said after the match:

“There are some key players for every team. Narine is one for us. Least we can do is back him. 2-3 poor games, doesn’t matter. Good to see Tripathi do the job at the top.

The good thing about Russ is he’s very versatile. He can bat slightly up, slightly down. Our batting is very fluid. I started at three, today I batted at seven. The way those guys batted at the start, they batted very well. Back end I have a lot of trust in Sunil and Varun, paid off,” Dinesh Karthik said.
