Hardik Pandya’s power-hitting skills aren’t unknown to the cricketing world. The all-rounder has been a vital cog in Mumbai Indians side for many years now. Hardik provides strength to a solid middle order and has played some great knocks lower down the order, over the years. On Sunday, Hardik Pandya exhibited another masterclass performance against Rajasthan Royals.
Coming at a difficult period, Hardik Pandya wreaked havoc at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Playing at a strike rate of 285.71, the all-rounder smacked 60 runs off just 21 deliveries, including 2 fours and 7 sixes. His innings helped the team reach a mammoth 195-run total in the first innings.
It was Hardik’s first half-century of 2020 IPL and he celebrated by taking a knee to extend his support for the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement. With that, he also became the first player to take a stand and extending his solidarity towards the same in IPL.
However, his gesture didn’t sit down well with the netizens who lashed out at him for ignoring other issues prevailing in the country. As soon as he completed his inning, social media was flooded with tweets, with netizens lashing out at the all-rounder for supporting ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement and not taking a stand on other big issues prevailing in the country. Here’s a look at some of those reactions:

An upper-caste Indian cricketer took a knee in support of Black Lives Matter.
Dear Hardik Pandya, have you said anything about how there are ZERO Dalits & Adivasi cricketers in India? Have you said anything about the caste atrocities committed against us? Change begins at home. pic.twitter.com/EKAcgHq1Tz

Despite losing their last game at the hands of Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets, Mumbai Indians currently sits at the top of the points table. They have secured 7 wins in 11 matches and need one more win to earn a playoff berth. They will be locking horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next game on Wednesday. Mumbai Indians lost in the super-over the last time they played against RCB. They would be keen to earn a win in their next game and thereby qualify for the playoffs.
