Eoin Morgan Lauded The Decision Of Dinesh Karthik After He Succeeds Him As KKR Captain: The four-time champions – Mumbai Indians are continuing to dominate in this season as well. The defending champions effortlessly won the match by eight wickets against Kolkata Knight Riders last night. Before the match started, the new captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and came up with the bat first, and posted ordinary 148 on the board.

KKR’s sensational pacer Pat Cummins played a crucial knock of 36-ball 53 to lift KKR from a hopeless situation to a respectable target of 148. He walked into bat after the failure of the top-order. The new skipper of KKR, Eoin Morgan formed a decent partnership with Pat Cummings and conjured 87 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket, to pull the team out of trouble. Eoin scored an unbeaten 39 off 29 balls.

On the other hand, chasing a total of 148 runs, MI’s opener Quinton de Kock played a match-winning knock of 78 runs off 44 balls. Hardik Pandya also played a crucial knock of 21 runs off 11 balls and took his team to the winning sides.

After the match, Eoin Morgan talked about what went wrong during the match. During the post-match presentation, he said:

“We weren’t in the race at all really, being four or five down. Managed to get a score on the board but when Mumbai play like that, they are hard to stop. Guys fought hard but just not enough runs on the board. No.4, 5 and 6 we have lot of experience. We’re trying to adapt according to the situations. Don’t think it would have made much difference today.”

Earlier, during the toss, Eoin Morgan lauded the decision of Dinesh Karthik. Calling it an ‘incredibly selfless’ decision, Eoin Morgan said:

“DK informed yesterday that he would like to step back and focus on his batting as he feels that’s the best option for the team. It’s incredibly selfless and it also shows a lot of courage from him to do that, putting the team first ahead of him being skipper. I’m delighted to continue the leadership role within the side, obviously captain and not vice-captain now, but hopefully continue to work alongside our players.”

He added:

“We are only halfway through the tournament, we have showed some potential, haven’t quite achieved majority of it yet but tonight will be another good test and hopefully we’ll be up to it. I have continued to be myself, within any good side around the world, you have to have a number of leaders within the change room. I think we have them in abundance,”
