Chennai Super Kings’ skipper MS Dhoni has found himself at the receiving end of criticism for his conduct during the clash last night between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrises Hyderabad. Dhoni-led side defeated SRH by 20 runs, however, the game ended up on a controversial note. The on-field umpire Paul Reiffel was about to give a wide however he changed his decision.
It happened during the 19th over of SRH’s chase when SRH needed 25 to win off 11 balls. Shardul Thakur, who was consistently bowling at a line outside the off-stump delivered a ball to Rashid Khan, who chased the ball. As the delivery was outside the wide mark, the ball went through Rashid’s bat.
Dhoni and Shardul Thakur expressed their disappointment as umpire Paul Reiffel began to stretch his arms to signal a wide. However, the umpire then seemed to have a change of mind and decided not to call a wide after Dhoni reacted angrily.
Not just this, David Warner was also seen gesturing angrily from the dugout as Reiffel seemed to have changed his decision.

Dhoni was indeed acting in an animated manner, which has eventually divided the internet into two parts. While many are supporting Dhoni on this, there are many who are calling out on Dhoni and are slamming him.
Here, check out the reactions of Twitterati on this:
The fault is the umpire’s only. If you are intimidated by MS Dhoni that’s your problem. MS Dhoni had the right to express his disappointment though it was a wide. We’ve seen all players do it. That’s just piss poor umpiring & the umpire needs to be fined.

2019 – MS Dhoni walking out to argue with the umpires.
2020 – MS Dhoni giving in a stare and the umpire drops his hands.
Thala and umpires – you can write a book about it. https://t.co/tbgrVOFw5e

Timely Reminder that Kane Williamson didn't argue with the umpire in the WC final 🙏

Seeing a lot of people having a go at Dhoni for this. Dhoni is the fielding side captain/keeper, he is entitled to protest a call, even if he is wrong, like in this case. The onus is on the umpire to stand firm by his decision. https://t.co/k77kmaaIay
