Getting dismissed on 99 runs is one of the most heartbreaking moments for a cricketer on-field. So when Chris Gayle was dismissed on 99 runs last night, during a match against Rajasthan Royals, he was unable to hide his disappointment and anger.
During the game, Chris Gayle walked out to bat at no.3 and took the game by storm. He started smashing the bowlers of RR to all the corners of the ground from the word ‘go’. At 41-years of age, Gayle showed his class and proved why he is regarded as the greatest T20 cricketer of all time. He was only one run short of hitting another century.
Chris Gayle was clean bowled by Jofra Archer and the former was seen getting absolutely pissed. Gayle lost his cool and swung the bat in disappointment. He lost the grip on his bat and as a result, it flew towards the short mid-wicket. However, despite the anger, Chris Gayle showed his class by shaking hands with Jofra Archer, who in return congratulated him for the amazing knock.
Meanwhile, social media was flooded with reactions to this amazing moment, which became one of the highlights of the game. Among many, Freddie Wilde, the popular cricket analytics and author, also took to his Twitter and reacted to the epic moment.
He termed this moment as ‘one of the best moments’ of IPL 2020 as it featured the greatest of all time and the best in the world right now – Chris Gayle and Jofra Archer. Freddie wrote:
“One of the moments of the season. The GOAT and the best in the world right now. #IPL2020 #KXIP #RR”
