IPL 2020 Mid-Season Transfer: A side that has lifted the IPL title for as many as three times, Chennai Super Kings have looked out of sorts in IPL 2020. The tournament has reached the half-way mark and Chennai has only managed to win 2 games out of seven. Perhaps, things haven’t gone their way since they landed in UAE.
The absence of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh has hurt them badly in the competition. Chennai Super Kings have struggled to score runs in the middle period, while the spinners have struggled to dominate at UAE grounds. In 7 matches, Chennai Super Kings has won only 2 games against Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab.
Having said that, one can’t rule out the most consistent side in IPL, just yet. With 7 games still to play, CSK would look to figure out their strongest playing XI and target a few players in the mid-season transfer to bolster the squad for the upcoming fixtures.
In this article, we look at three players which CSK can target in the IPL 2020 mid-season transfer:
Chennai Super Kings desperately needs someone who can score aggressively in the middle overs and David Miller is someone who could do the job for them. Miller has played just one game for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020. With him in at number four, CSK could develop into a very good batting side and also adds a left-handed option in the line-up.
Striking at close to 140, David Miller has 1850 runs to his name in his IPL career, including 9 half-centuries and one century.
IPL 2020 Mid-Season Transfer: Virat Singh
A star for the future, Virat Singh could a great choice for CSK ahead of the mid-season transfer. Virat Singh is currently plying his trade for SRH but hasn’t got a game so far. The Indian cricketer showed his class in the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was the leading run-scorer for Jharkhand in the 2019-20 Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament, scoring 343 in 10 matches at an astonishing strike rate of 142.32. CSK would be keen to include the Indian young talent in their squad.
As far as his T20 numbers are concerned, Virat has compiled 1552 runs in 56 matches at an average and strike rate of 35 and 124. Virat Singh is yet to make his debut in IPL and what could be a better team than CSK to make that happen.
Deepak Hooda has only one half-century to his name in his IPL career. He hasn’t taken the world by storm in any edition and but knows how to play big shots. Hooda has got the power to launch big hits and could be a perfect choice for IPL 2020 Mid-Season Transfer at lower down the order for Chennai Super Kings.
CSK desperately needs someone who could play score aggressively in the middle orders and might target him to do the job. Deepak Hooda has scored 524 runs in his IPL career in 61 matches at an average and strike rate of 14.55 and 127.18 respectively.
