Riding on the powerful performance of Jonny Bairstow, Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kings XI Punjab with 69-runs in the 22nd match in Dubai. It was heartbreaking to see Jonny Bairstow returning back to the pavilion with only 3 runs short to his maiden IPL 2020 century as he became Ravi Bishnoi’s one of three victims.
But, before Ravi Bishnoi strikes, Warner kept the bowlers and fielders of the Rajasthan 20 overs they slumped to their fifth loss in six games.
However, it was the performance of Jonny Bairstow that kept everyone on the edge of their seats as he gave a tough time to the talented bowlers of KXIP. Jonny almost scored his maiden century, before he was dismissed by LBW by Ravi Bishnoi on 97 runs that he amassed in 55 balls. During his powerful knock, he smashed 7 fours and 6 sixes.
Later after receiving the Man of the Match award, Jonny Bairstow expressed his happiness and talked about the conditions, dimensions, pitches, and many things about the game. He concluded by saying that his side held the nerve and knew that they would win. He said:
“I was pleased, obviously my third fifty, but the consistency of getting them back-to-back is key. [Batting with Warner] It’s good fun, we know what a quality player he is. I think it was his 50th fifty. That number speaks for him. Obviously the dimensions and pitches here are different from conditions we expect in India. The temperature is pretty different as well. [Defending the total] The guys held their nerve. We knew that with them picking six batters [we would be in the game],”
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be seen locking their horns against Rajasthan Royals on 11th October.
