After registering a stunning eight-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab’s skipper KL Rahul praised the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle for his stunning performances and for keeping the mood light in the dressing room. It was another match, another stunning and match-winning performance from Chris Gayle.
Chasing a target of 150 runs, KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh kickstarted the game brilliantly. However, KL Rahul was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy on the 7.6 over with 28 runs in his account.
But Mandeep Singh and Chris Gayle held the game and formed a stunning partnership. Mandeep Singh remained unbeaten till the last ball and scored 66 off 56 balls, smashing 8 fours and 2 sixes.
Chris Gayle, the Universe Boss, was at his best once again as he smashed the bowlers of KKR to all the corners of the ground. He scored 51 off 29 runs, smashing 2 fours and 5 sixes.
After the match, KL Rahul was all praises for Chris Gayle. Talking about him, during the post-match presentation, the KXIP skipper claimed that this is the hungriest he has seen Gayle. He also praised Chris about how he always stays positive and motivates youngsters in the team. He said:
“Complete team effort, a lot of credit has to go to the coaches. It was a very hard decision not to play him (Chris). This is the hungriest I have ever seen him. He’s always positive, pushing the youngsters. We have Chris in the dressing room. Just his presence means a lot to us. When we started five games ago, we knew we had to win all the games. One game at a time, keep the confidence going and keep the energy going,”
Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab has leapfrogged from the bottom of the table to the fourth position in the points table with five back-to-back victories. They will be seen locking their horns with Rajasthan Royals on Friday.
