Most Dismissals By A ‘Bowler-Catcher’ Combination In The IPL

Be it any format of the game, partnerships have always been critical to a team’s success. Over the years, the fans have been witnessed some great batting and bowling partnerships on the cricket field. However, what does remain unnoticed is the partnership between a bowler and a fielder. The bowler-fielder combination has led to numerous dismissals. T20 cricket has seen a lot of successful bowler-fielder combination, especially in the Indian Premier League.

In this article, we look at most dismissals by a bowler-fielder combination in the IPL:

Kagiso Rabada and Rishabh Pant: 18 dismissals

South African bowler, Kagiso Rabada has been putting on a show in the ongoing edition of IPL. Rabada is currently the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 21 wickets to his name in 10 matches. Rabada has been part of Delhi Capitals since 2017 edition.

He made his debut in 2017 and has picked 52 wickets in 28 appearances. Interestingly, Rishabh Pant has formed a successful partnership with Rabada, with both affecting 18 dismissals together. The duo has affected the most number of dismissals together as a bowler-fielder combination in the history of IPL.

Rishabh Pant has made 61 appearances in IPL, affecting 51 dismissals, including 40 catches and 11 stumpings.

Harbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard: 16 dismissals

Harbhajan Singh has been around since the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. The Indian spinner was instrumental in taking Mumbai Indians to great heights. He was later bought by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the 2018 IPL. During his MI career, he formed a significant partnership with Kieron Pollard, affecting 16 dismissals together as a bowler-fielder combination.

Harbhajan Singh boasts of an illustrious career in the Indian Premier League. He is the fifth highest-wicket taker in IPL. In 160 appearances, the 40-year old cricketer has picked 150 wickets at an excellent economy of 7.05. Kieron Pollard has taken 82 catches and stands fifth in the list of most number of catches in IPL history.

Amit Mishra & Rishabh Pant: 16 dismissals

While Rishabh Pant has received flack for his wicket-keeping in International Cricket, he has done quite well for Delhi Capitals in IPL. Besides Rabada, Pant has partnered with Amit Mishra in affecting 16 dismissals together. As a bowler-fielder combination, Pant has formed a great partnership with Delhi bowlers, over the years. He puts his name along with Rabada and Mishra in the first and third position in the list with 18 and 16 dismissals together.

Amit Mishra has aggregated 160 wickets in 150 matches in IPL, while Rishabh Pant has taken 40 catches in his IPL career so far.
