MS Dhoni is regarded as one of the greatest skippers in cricket history. With his brilliant techniques and captaincy, MS Dhoni took team India and his IPL team Chennai Super Kings to new heights. However, in the ongoing 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League, Dhoni found himself at the receiving end of criticism.
Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings suffered three back-to-back defeats and were sitting at the bottom end of the points table of IPL 2020. However, Chennai Super Kings made a stunning comeback into the league after defeating Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets in a match last night.
It was a must-win match for the Chennai Super Kings and this is when the captain Dhoni came to the rescue. The game kickstarted with a worst possible start for the KXIP, as Dhoni sent Piyush Chawla as soon as KXIP felt comfortable at the crease and they lost their dangerous opener, Mayank Agarwal. After that, KL Rahul and Mandeep Singh formed a decent partnership. But Dhoni threw the ball to his other spinner, Ravindra Jadeja, who dismissed Mandeep Singh.
Later to remove KL Rahul, Dhoni joined hands with Shardul Thakur. Shardul’s perfect delivery found KL Rahul edging the ball to the skipper, who jumped and caught the ball with both his hand.
In the second innings, chasing a total of 178 runs, Chennai Super Kings’ dynamic duo of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis chased down the 179-run target in only 17.4 overs.
After the match, MS Dhoni was seen discussing things with KXIP players KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and others. If you are an ardent IPL fan, then you must have observed that this is one of the most common scenes from the league, where after every match, cricketers from the opposite team discuss and interact with the legendary keeper-batsman.
Sharing the video of the same, the official twitter handle of the Indian Premier League wrote an amazing post praising the ‘captain’ Dhoni. They wrote:
“Can there be a better person than #MSDhoni to analyse the game. We absolutely love these post-match interactions. #Dream11IPL #KXIPvCSK”
