Sanjay Manjrekar: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian squad for the forthcoming tour of Australia, on Monday. The selection committee has left everyone stunned with the team selection this time – while Rohit Sharma’s name is missing from the list, KL Rahul has made a comeback in the longest format of the game, on the other hand, Mayank Agarwal has made it to the T20I list and Ravindra Jadeja has found a place in all the three formats of the game.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and popular commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has been very disappointed with the squad announced by BCCI. He has been on a spree, slamming BCCI for their decisions.

Recently, Sanjay Manjrekar expressed his disappointment over the selection of KL Rahul in the team. It all started when he took to his Twitter and slammed BCCI for picking players on the basis of their IPL performances and for neglecting the Ranji players. He wrote:

“You set a bad precedent when you recall a player for Tests on IPL performance. Especially if the player has been an abject failure in his last few Tests. Whether that player succeeds or fails is irrelevant, such selections massively demotivate Ranji players.”

In another tweet, he raised questions on KL Rahul’s recent form in the longest format of the game. As per Sanjay, KL Rahul is ‘very lucky’ to get selected in the team. He wrote:

“KL Rahul in his last 5 Test series
– v SA – Avg 7.1
– v Eng – Avg 29
– v WI at home – Avg 18
– v Aus – Avg 10.7
– v WI – Avg 25.4
I say very lucky to get a recall based on IPL & white ball performance. But now let’s just hope he makes the most of this chance. Good luck to him!”

Not just this, he also responded to a twitter user claiming that Ravindra Jadeja isn’t fit for the T20I format. The twitter user wrote:

“Say some words about ravindra jadeja he is not fit in t20 team axar patel could be a better option”

Sanjay Manjrekar was quick to notice the tweet and come up with a reply to the fan. In his reply, Sanjay agreed with the Twitter user that Ravindra Jadeja isn’t fit for the T20 team and Axar would have been a better option. He wrote:

“completely agree.”
