This Twitter user pointed out an irony in last night’s super over that others may have missed

The game between Punjab and Mumbai last night saw some thrilling contest that dragged the bout down to the second super over, an unprecedented spectacle in Indian Premier League.

After an exciting contest of bat and ball, the two teams proved to be of equal stature to each other that saw them equaling the feats achieved by their counterpart until that final super over where Punjab came up trumps.

However, an entertainment factor that was highlighted by a Twitter user, stated, “The last time KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya had so much thrill, Karan Johar had to shut down his show forever.”

This was the reference that was taken in regard to the controversial episode of ‘Koffee with Karan’ that saw Lokesh Rahul and Hardik Pandya drum up a storm of discourse that would sweep the entire nation off their feet.

That episode compelled Karan Johar to shut shop for the show while the duo was banned from international cricket for quite some time. That episode also featured a lot of laughs and smiles from two of India’s best cricketers.

However, the aftermath that ensued post the show was nothing short of a disaster and a lot of eyebrows were raised. Even an infamous tagline started doing the rounds that whenever the duo pf Pandya and Rahul will be involved together, a lot is to follow.

Last night in the second super over, Pandya came out to bat with Kieron Pollard and couldn’t really get off to the start that he was looking for. However, Rahul had all the reasons to smile when Gayle hammered a massive six on the first ball of the innings itself, flipping the scales of the game towards the men in red.

It was finally Mayank Agarwal who dealt the telling blow to the aspirations of Mumbai with a stunning strike to steal Punjab’s third victory of the tournament and also for the first time in 2020, two victories in a row.
