Mumbai Indians skipper, Rohit Sharma has become the third batsmen in the history of IPL to score 5000 runs in the tournament. He achieved the feat during the ongoing game between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. Prior to the start of the match, Rohit Sharma was just 2 runs short of achieving the landmark.
He hit a sumptuous drive for four off Mohammad Shami on the first ball of the second over to help himself get past 5000 IPL runs. Apart from Rohit Sharma, only two other batsmen, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina have managed to score 5000 runs in IPL.
Virat Kohli is currently the highest run-scorer in IPL. In 180 appearances, Virat Kohli has scored 5430 runs at an average of 37.19. Suresh Raina finds himself at the second position with 5368 runs to his name in 193 matches.
