Virat Kohli Explained The Reason Why AB de Villiers Batted At No 6 Against KXIP: AB de Villiers has been the batting mainstay of Royal Challengers Bangalore for many years now. The star batsman never fails to deliver the best for his team. Even in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, AB de Villiers has been one of the most consistent players.
However, on Thursday, the fans were left stunned after the skipper of RCB, Virat Kohli decided to star batsman AB de Villiers lower down the order. The decision didn’t go down in favor of the team and as a result, the skipper found himself at the receiving end of criticism.
On Thursday, coming out to bat first, RCB had set a competitive target of 172 runs on the back of Chris Morris’ brilliant performance with the bat
Later, after the match, Virat Kohli explained the reason behind sending AB de Villiers down the order. He revealed that the team wanted to go with a lefty-righty combination as KXIP had two leg spinners. He also accepted that some decisions don’t come off in favor of the team. He revealed:
“It was quite surprising, because it went down to the wire. A bit of pressure can confuse you, it was a good performance by Kings XI in the end. We had a chat, it was a message about the left-hand, right-hand combination (on AB coming down the order). Sometimes these decisions you take, don’t come off. But I think 170 was a decent score. That’s the idea, get your eye in and start hitting.”

“But we were not able to put them under pressure. We take a lot of pride as a bowling side, but tonight was one of those nights, as it didn’t come off. A few positives from the game. There was no conversation between Yuzi (Chahal) and me to be honest. Things became interesting to be honest. They kind of let us come back in the game, because I think it should have ended by the 18th over.”
