Faf du Plessis

It was an epic run-chase by the dynamic duo of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis of Chennai Super Kings, who bounced back into the game on Sunday after defeating Kings XI Punjab by 10 wickets and raining fours and sixes at the Dubai International Stadium.

Chasing a total of 179 runs, CSK opener Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis looked in a great form and they continued with their amazing form till the last ball. Throughout their innings, both the cricketer didn’t let the bowlers of KXIP dominate the game. The duo added 60 runs int he powerplay and after 10 overs only, CSK reached 101/0.

The bowling attack of KXIP was exposed by Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis, who chased down the 179-run target in only 17.4 overs. The firework from the duo made the 63 off 52 knocks of KL Rahul go in vain. From Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell to Chris Jordon, none of the bowlers had answers to the amazing shots of the CSK’s opening batsmen.

Together they smashed a whopping 22 fours and 4 sixes — while Watson smashed  83 runs, including 11 fours and 3 sixes and on the other hand, Faf scored 87 runs including 11 fours and 1 six.

It was the second 100-run opening stand in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League after 183 run-stand by KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal against Rajasthan Royals in Sharjah.

While Faf du Plessis made many amazing shot selections, but there was this one which stood out and for all the special reasons.
