Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Nitish Rana dedicated a brilliant half-century against the Delhi Capitals to his late father-in-law who died of cancer. Rana showed the jersey with the name ‘Surinder’ which was his father-in-law’s name after reaching his half-century, which marked as a gesture of gratitude and respect for the passed soul.
He seemed to share a very close bond with his father-in-law and that was evident from the emotions he showed after reaching the landmark.
Nitish Rana scored a brilliant 81 against Delhi Capitals
Nitish Rana opened the innings for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the game against the Delhi Capitals alongside Shubman Gill and they needed a good start with the bat after suffering a loss against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, they were again in a spot of bother as they were 45-3 after 8 overs. But Sunil Narine and Rana together put on a century stand for the fourth wicket and brought KKR back into the game and gave a great platform for them to post a huge first-innings total.
This was a very crucial innings for Nitish Rana and KKR in the context of their season. Sitting on 4th position in the table, KKR had five wins from 10 games and seem to be on a downward spiral as far as their form is concerned after the game against the RCB where they only managed to score 85 runs in their 20 overs.
They had a statement to make after that dismal performance and so they did, being well on their way to post a total in excess of 180 in the first innings.
Nitish Rana ended up with a brilliant score of 81 off just 53 balls, helping KKR post a mammoth total of 194-6 in their 20 overs. It will be a daunting task for the Delhi Capitals if they are to chase down this huge target.
