India’s tour of Australia has finally started with the first ODI being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday. Australia started the series on the right note as they defeated India by a margin of 66 runs. The tour has started with the limited-overs leg but everybody has one eye on the Test Matches which start on the 17th of December. Everybody is waiting for the Border Gavaskar Trophy which will start in a few weeks’ time. Every time these two teams play the Border Gavaskar Trophy there are many records that are broken. Batsmen from both sides love scoring runs against their opposition in this series because you are scoring runs against a high-quality attack and so there are many batsmen with a lot of 50+ scores in this trophy. - Matthew Hayden – 14
Matthew Hayden is one of the finest Test match openers to have ever played the game. He has scored runs in all the conditions, and he was known to intimidate the bowler by running at him. In India, he used the sweep shot to his advantage as he swept the Indian spinners in one of the Test series which helped them win against India. He has a total of fourteen 50+ scores against India which include six centuries and eight half-centuries. He averaged 59 against India which shows how successful he was in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
- Rahul Dravid – 15
Rahul Dravid is probably India’s best No.3 to have played Test cricket. Dravid loved scoring against high-quality attacks and Australia had a great one. Dravid registered fifteen 50+ scores against Australia in Test cricket. He has two famous centuries and 13 half-centuries against Australia. His famous centuries helped India a Test in Kolkata after a follow-on and a Test in Adelaide in 2003/04.
- VVS Laxman – 18
VVS Laxman’s favourite opposition was Australia. He has said it many times on record that he loved scoring runs against Australia. He has scored tons of runs against the Aussies. He has hit six Test centuries and 12 half-centuries in the Border Gavaskar Trophy which means he has a total of eighteen 50+ scores in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. With eighteen 50+ scores, VVS Laxman is third on this special list.
- Ricky Ponting – 20
The young Ricky Ponting didn’t have an idea of how to bat against India in the Indian conditions but slowly and steadily he dominated the Indian side in Test cricket. He averaged 54.36 against India as he hit eight centuries and 12 half-centuries in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He registered a total of twenty 50+ scores against India in his Test career which means he is second on this list of most 50+ scores in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
- Sachin Tendulkar – 25
You talk about any batting record and Sachin Tendulkar has to be on that list and so Sachin Tendulkar tops another list with his batting numbers. Tendulkar loved battles and one of the well-known battles was between Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne. He dominated Warne at his prime and that was not an easy task for any batsman. Tendulkar hit 10 centuries and 15 half-centuries in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. One of his famous centuries which people will remember is the one in which he scored 241* at the SCG without playing a single cover drive. With twenty-five 50+ scores, Sachin Tendulkar is first on this special list.
