Kieron Pollard trolled Dwayne Bravo: Mumbai Indians romped to their 5th IPL win last night after defeating Delhi Capitals. With the win, Mumbai Indians broke their even-year jinx and became the second team to ever defend their Dream11 IPL title, after Chennai Super Kings, who did this in the year 2011.
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings are two of the most successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League, with eight wins among the two. Both teams are known for their fierce rivalry in the IPL. Incidentally, Mumbai Indians‘ Kieron Pollard and Chennai’s Dwayne Bravo are both teammates for their national side.
Therefore, when Mumbai Indians won the tournament for the record-breaking fifth time, Kieron Pollard couldn’t help himself and poked fun at his teammate and IPL rival Dwayne Bravo.
While speaking on the sidelines after the win, Pollard said that Mumbai’s 5th Dream11 IPL title meant that the franchise was unprecedented now. He expressed his happiness and feelings following their 5th win at the tournament. He said:
“It’s a great feeling. I’ve been here 11 years, the fifth trophy. No one sees the planning and training, it’s pressure playing for a franchise like this,”
“The number of trophies, the amount of work, the amount of players who go on to play for their countries, I think we’ll have to say so [that this is the best T20 franchise]. Kudos to the owners and management. Long may that continue,”
Kieron Pollard also took a dig at Bravo by saying that now he is ahead of him with the win. He said:
“Five trophies so I think we’re unprecedented now. The next team is at three trophies. Dwayne Bravo, I’m ahead of you now. I want to just say this on camera”
