Sourav Ganguly Identified Six Young Talents: The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to bid adieu to its fans. The season turned out to be one of the most thrilling and entertaining seasons so far. From thrilling super-overs to nail-biting endings, this season has entertained the fans like no other seasons. There were many interesting ups and downs, highs and lows in the tournament. While many legendary players failed to perform, many young talents from the teams turned out to be the heroes for their teams.
Among many, Suryakumar Yadav, who is fondly called ‘SKY’ by his teammates has proved his mettle for his team Mumbai Indians, especially during the absence of Rohit Sharma. In the last four games of Mumbai Indians, SKY has scored 164 runs, including a half-century. Despite his brilliant performances, SKY wasn’t included in the playing squad for team India for the upcoming Australia tour.
SKY’s brilliant performances have impressed one and all, including the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. Talking about SKY, Ganguly said: “he will soon break into the team”.
However, Suryakumar Yadav isn’t the only young talent, who has impressed the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. During the interaction, Ganguly revealed the names of five other youngsters, who have impressed the BCCI president with their impeccable performances in the IPL 2020.
Sourav Ganguly picked Rajasthan Royals’ Sanju Samson, Kolkata Knight Riders’ Rahul Tripathi, Varun Chakravarthy, and Shubman Gill, and Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Devdutt Padikkal as the big finds of the IPL 2020.
Moreover, among the six cricketers picked by Ganguly, Sanju Samson, and Varun Chakravarthy have been named in India’s T20I side for the upcoming Australia tour. Here, check out the details of the other five cricketers:
Devdutt Padikkal has been the biggest find of the season for both RCB and BCCI. Padikkal, who made his debut in IPL this season only, turned out to be a hero for the team in many games. Devdutt is the favorites to bag the emerging players’ award in IPL 2020. His hard-hitting shots and batting style has impressed one and all. This young talent is also the highest run-scorer in the RCB squad. In 14 games, that he played for RCB in IPL 2020, Devdutt scored 472 runs.
This young KKR star, Shubman Gill is amongst the highest run-scorer of the IPL 2020. From playing at number 3 to playing the role of the opener, Shubman Gill did exceptionally well for KKR this season. And as a result, he was included in the Test and ODI squad for the India tour of Australia. In 14 games that he played for KKR, Shubman scored 440 runs.
Another young talent from Kolkata Knight Riders, who have impressed BCCI’s President Sourav Ganguly is Varun Chakravarthy. He gave brilliant performances throughout the season. In 13 games, Chakravarthy took 17 wickets at an economy of 6.84. As a result, Varun was included in the T20 squad for the upcoming Australia tour.
Rahul might not be amongst the top performers of the team but his heroics helped KKR get the much-needed depth in the tournament. He scored 230 runs in the 11 games that he played at a strike rate of 127.07.
This won’t be the first time that Sanju Samson has impressed his fans with his stunning performances. The cricketer is known for his batting heroics. Though, it looked that he lost his form in the middle but he bounced back into the form. In the 14 games, Sanju played in IPL 2020, he managed to score 375 runs at a strike rate of 158.89.
