Rohit Sharma is the most successful skipper of IPL, after having led his team to the victory for the fifth time. However, ever since the franchise has won the IPL title this time, there has been a debate going on social media among the fans and cricket experts on whether Virat Kohli should hand over the captaincy to Rohit Sharma in T20I or not.
While Rohit Sharma is the most successful IPL skippers in IPL history, having won as many as five trophies for Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, Virat Kohli is yet to win his first maiden IPL trophy.
Recently, in an interactio sports presenter Jatin Sapru and veteran cricketers such as Aakash Chopra, Gautam Gambhir, and Parthiv Patel, also talked about the ongoing debate on Hitman replacing Virat Kohli as the T20I captain.
Talking about the same, Gambhir claimed that Rohit Sharma is a better captain than Virat as far as the shortest format of the game is concerned. He said:
“Virat Kohli is not a bad captain, but Rohit Sharma is a better captain. There is a vast difference between the quality of captaincy.”
Not just this, Gautam Gambhir added that if cricketers are getting selected on the basis of their IPL performances then it could also be a parameter for selecting the captain of the Indian T20 side.He said:
“When we pick players for the national side based on the performances in the IPL, then why can’t we select the Indian T20I captain based on the captaincy in the IPL? In that case, the IPL should not be a parameter (for selection), isn’t it?”
On the other hand, Aakash Chopra remained adamant on no change required whatsoever based on IPL performances. Virat’s RCB teammate Parthiv Patel admitted that Rohit reads the game better and responds well under pressure as a captain.
Meanwhile, as soon as the interview attracted eyes, social media was flooded with reactions from netizens on it. Gambhir’s statement received mixed reactions from the netizens. There were many who came out in support of Gambhir and agreed on making Rohit the skipper in T20I format.

Gautam Gambhir on Star Sports said that Virat Kohli is not bad captain, but Rohit Sharma is better captain and there's difference of sky and land. If we pick players for internationals from IPL performance then why don't we pick a captain for international from IPL captaincy.

Guys ! I know it's hard to hear for Virat Kohli fans but, Gambhir is right today . Rohit Sharma is far far better captain for team India in T20 than Kohli. Kohli is a world class player, but when it comes to captaincy in shorter formats, he lacks the counter attack capabilities ! pic.twitter.com/hr5RiQerkb

Gautam Gambhir bigger match winner than Kohli Rohit & Thala combined. Anything he says about cricket should be treated as the truth.
