Two days after joining the Indian cricket team in Australia, Rohit Sharma was appointed as the vice-captain for the last two Tests in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. However, the swashbuckling opener alongwith Rishabh Pant and 3 other Indian cricketers have been placed under isolation after a video of them appeared on social media where they were seated in an indoor area in the diner.
The trouble began after an Indian cricket fan named Navaldeep Singh spotted his favorite cricketers – Rishabh Pant, Rohit, Navdeep Saini, and Shubman Gill, while he was at a restaurant at the same time. He was so overwhelmed and excited after spotting his favorite cricketers that he paid their bill worth AUD 118.69 (INR 6683).

For the unversed, as per the protocols of Cricket Australia, cricketers can eat out at restaurants but they must be seated in an outdoor area.
The fan also narrated the brief interaction he had with the cricketers after they found out that their bill had been paid by the fan. The fan also claimed that Rishabh Pant had ‘hugged’ him. However, he later took a u-turn from his statement and posted a clarification that Pant never hugged him and cricketers maintained social distancing throughout. He also claimed that he wrote all that in excitement. He wrote:
“Clarification – Pant never hugged me it was all said in excitement we maintained social distance all thru:) Apologies for miscommunication @BCCI @CricketAus @dailytelegraph,”

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia released a statement where they claimed that: “The players – Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and Navdeep Saini – have been separated from the Indian and Australian squads but will still train ‘in accordance with the strict protocols that have been put in place’ to ensure the ongoing safety of all members of the Indian and Australian squads,”
In the meantime, fans who were earlier praising Navaldeep Singh for his gesture are now disappointed with the whole turn of events. Fans on social media are trolling Navaldeep left, right, and center for his lie. There are many who are trolling Rohit Sharma and co. for being irresponsible.

If you really said that in excitement then I think it was your irresponsibility because while knowing the times are not good you shouldn't had said anything about physical contacting, it could be drastic for the team. But, appreciate it if you're saying this to close the chapter.

This dude lied that he hugged cricketers and put them in a spot of bother. Classic Indian dude behaviour where the girl sends a kiss emoji and they say they made out with her. https://t.co/f0U3ouKl9E
