Former Indian skipper and legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid, who is fondly called ‘The Wall’ of the Indian cricket team has been receiving praises from all corners for mentoring and guiding the young talents of the Indian cricket team and for ensuring that the Indian cricket team is in safe hands.

Recently, Hanuma Vihar, who emerged out to be one of the heroes of the third Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, revealed the text he received from the legendary cricketer. Hanuma Vihar, who was suffering from a grade-2 hamstring injury, played the innings of his life and saved India from the verges of a defeat. The victory eventually helped India to go for a win in the final test match at the Gabba.

Vihari joined hands with Ravi Ashwin, who was also in pain because of a back injury and together they ground out Australia’s bowling on the last day of the test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground to settle for a draw. Vihari played 161 balls to get an unbeaten 23 runs. Without any doubt, the SCG draw will go down as one of the most iconic matches in the history of the longest format of the game with team India facing a lot of injuries.

Rahul Dravid was also very happy with the way Hanuma Vihari tackled the bowlers in the SCG match and was quick to text him about his great innings. After the innings, Rahul Dravid texted Vihari:

“Very Well Done, You Did A Great Job”

Hanuma Vihari also expressed his admiration for ‘The Wall’ and said: “That is the person he is and I respect him for that,”

Vihari also credited Dravid for bridging the gap between Ranji Trophy and International matches. He said:

“As youngsters, we have to give a lot of credit to him, the way he let us express our game. When we play under him, it always feels like he is more of a mentor than a coach. He is always there whenever we need him. “Even in the last Australia tour, I made a call to him, saying ‘Sir, I am making my debut’. He said ‘you have done exceptionally well in Ranji Trophy, in India A, so you’re ready to play’. That’s the confidence he gave me,”
