Rishabh Pant And Hanuma Vihari Took Heavy Dosage Of Pain-Killers To Help India Earn The Historic Draw

Rishabh Pant And Hanuma Vihari Took Heavy Dosage Of Pain-Killers To Help India Earn The Historic Draw: “Bruised, broken but never short of character”, India’s stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane perfectly described the performance of team India on Day 5 of the third Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Each and every player of Team India showed intent and once again rallied against odds as they clinched a fighting draw, which almost felt like a glorious win.

From bouncers to banters, Australia tried everything to bring India down, however, it wasn’t enough to break the spirits of Indian players, among whom most of them were injured.

On Saturday, Rishabh Pant escaped a serious injury blow after being hit on the elbow by Pat Cummins’ bouncer. Later, India faced another blow after Hanuman Vihari injured his hamstring after walking into bat in a difficult situation.

Though Pant started slow, scoring only 7 runs off 36 balls, however, he soon found his pace and scored 50 off 64 balls. He rained back-to-back fours at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He also smashed 3 sixes as he took the attack to the hosts. He scored 97 runs off 118 balls, smashing 12 fours and 3 sixes.

After his dismissal, Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari joined hands and denied the Australians even a single wicket for the next 30 overs or so. Hanuman Vihari was struggling with a hamstring injury, but he carried on batting and stayed unbeaten on 23 off 160 balls. However, no one was aware of the fact that even R Ashwin wasn’t completely fit and was struggling in pain, but he played like a true champ.

Popular journalist Boria Majumdar later took to his Twitter and revealed how both Hanuman Vihari and Rishabh Pant were on a very high dosage of pain killers throughout the game. He wrote:

Breaking @RishabhPant17 and  @Hanumavihari were both on very very heavy dosage of pain killers right through. Battled serious pain. Each time someone came out when Hanuma was batting it was with more pain killers. These two young men have really earned the respect of everyone.”

Infact, as per the India Today report, every time when a break was taken on the field, someone from the dressing room brought more pain-killers for Vihari on the field. As per the latest updates, Vihari has been taken for the scans and might not play in the fourth test.

Earlier, after the match came to an end, R Ashwin’s wife also took to her Twitter and revealed that Ashwin was in some serious pain since Sunday night. She also claimed that she was amazed at how Ashwin was able to pull off today. She wrote:

” The man went to bed last night with a terrible back tweak and in unbelievable pain. He could not stand up straight when he woke up this morning. Could not bend down to tie his shoe laces. I am amazed at what @ashwinravi99 pulled off today.”
