Rohit Sharma Has Broken Don Bradman’s Record In Test Cricket

Rohit Sharma

Indian star batsman Rohit Sharma is one of the most talented cricketers around the world right now. Over the years, he has played many memorable knocks for team India in all the formats of the game.
However, the cricketer has gone through his shares of ups and downs in his career.

Just like his white-ball career, Rohit struggled in the initial years of his Test career. It took Rohit 6 years to finally cement his place in the playing XI of the longest format of the game. Though the ‘Hitman’ had started his Test career with two back-to-back stunning centuries, however, he couldn’t cement his spot in the playing XI.

In 2018, Rohit was also dropped from the Indian squad. Interestingly, he made a comeback for team India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2018/19 on the basis of his terrific performances in white-ball cricket.

The team management showed immense faith in him and promoted him to open the innings for team India in the absence of Prithvi Shaw, in test format. The decision turned out to be in favor of Rohit Sharma who broke multiple records during the three-match series against South Africa.

Walking out to open the innings with Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma amassed 176 and 127 in the first Test at Vizag, which was followed by the scores of 14 and 212 in the next two Tests, respectively.

Not just this, during his run against South Africa, Rohit broke the record of the legendary cricketer Don Bradman. Yes, he shattered his record of Bradman’s magical average of 98.22 in the home conditions.

Well, during the 3rd Test match, that took place in Ranchi, where Rohit scored 212 runs, he leapfrogged Don Bradman as he was averaging 99.84 at one point.

Talking about his current average, Rohit Sharma, who is now India’s permanent opener across all formats, averages 79.52 for his in 18 matches at home. So far, he has scored 7 centuries and six half-centuries. Also, so far, Rohit has donned 38 Test caps, in which he has scored 2615 runs at 46.69.

Meanwhile, Hitman Sharma is currently gearing up with the Indian squad for the upcoming tour to the UK, where they will play 6 Test matches over the next three months.
