India’s pacer Mohammed Shami has found himself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling after India’s humiliating defeat against Pakistan on Sunday. Shami didn’t have a great day on-field as turned out to be the most expensive bowler of the lot, giving away 43 runs in his 3.5 overs at an economy rate of above 11.
Prior to this defeat, the Indian cricket team had won all the 12 games they have played before against the arch-rivals. However, the trio of Babar Azam, Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi didn’t give team India a chance to find the momentum throughout the game. The Indian cricket team was outplayed by Pakistan in every department.
India vs Pakistan is often hailed as the mother of all rivalries and a defeat from Pakistan is hard to digest. This is the reason why fans were left heartbroken after the defeat. However, while many moved on and backed the Indian cricket team, on other hand, keyboard warriors and seasonal fans why fans are so resorted to spreading hate on social media.
As Shami had a bad day at work against Pakistan, he became the victim of trolls and abuses on social media.
Meanwhile, several former and current Indian cricketers came out in support of the Indian pacer after the unfortunate happenings took place on social media. From Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, VVS Laxman, to Yuzvendra Chahal, the Indian cricket fraternity has extended their full support towards Mohammed Shami.
Here, check out how the Indian cricket fraternity reacted:
Mohammed Shami has been a stellar performer for India for eight years, playing a significant role in many a victory. He can't be defined by one performance. My best wishes are always with him. I urge fans & followers of the game to support @MdShami11 and the Indian team.

@MdShami11 is an Indian cricketer and we are proud of him. To target him after the loss against Pak is pathetic.

Online trolls are the ones who earlier used to burn effigies and throw paint-stones at player’s houses…with an online profile without a face worthy of a profile pic.

Criticising is fine but khiladiyon ko abuse nahi karna chahiye. Ye game hai, better team on that day won.

The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and Anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami. Agle match mein dikado jalwa.

355 International wickets. It is India that beats in the heart of anyone representing India. And Mohammad Shami has been an outstanding and yet unsung servant of Indian cricket. More power to him.
