Former Indian cricketer and batting legend Virender Sehwag recently slammed the Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, Eoin Morgan as he feels that the latter hasn’t contributed much for the team, especially with the bat. It was ahead of the auction in 2020 when Kolkata Knight Riders roped in Morgan in their team and later he replaced Dinesh Karthik as the skipper of the team.
Although, Morgan has done a decent job as the skipper of KKR, but he hasn’t been able to contribute much with the bat. He has only been able to score 124 runs in the first 15 games he played in IPL 2021. Infact, he had the lowest batting average as compared to the regular KKR batters.
Virender Sehwag is not at all impressed with the performance of Eoin Morgan and has now taken a dig at the KKR skipper. Sehwag was clear-cut in saying that the Knight Riders might not retain Eoin Morgan going into the mega auction in 2022. Speaking on Cricbuzz, Sehwag said:
“KKR’s captain (Eoin Morgan) has not scored even 20-25 runs consistently. He has not contributed much. Last year, KKR changed their skipper midway, but I am not sure if they will retain him before the mega auction,”
“It will be interesting to see if he ever plays for Kolkata again because he has played for so many teams but he hasn’t done anything except talking. But when you are the captain, you need to score runs as well. We have not seen anything special from him so far,”
Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders have managed to knock Royal Challengers Bangalore out of IPL 2021 by defeating them by Eliminator 1.
