Ban IPL Trends On Twitter After Team India’s Flop Show Against New Zealand

Team india

Fans on social media were seemingly extremely upset after team India registered their second loss of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2021, this time at the hands of New Zealand by 8 wickets. Earlier India had suffered a humiliating defeat against arch-rivals Pakistan in the first match of the tournament.

The game started on a disappointing note for team India as the Indian skipper lost the toss once again. The Men in Blue were put in to bat first, however, they failed to live up to the expectations of the fans. The batting performance looked none different from what the spectators had already seen in the game against Pakistan.

Infact, this time the batting was even worse as none of the batters could get going. Not a single player from the team was able to touch the 30-run marks. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja turned out to be the top scorer with 26 not out. Later, the bowlers also failed to restrict the Kiwis from chasing the target, eventually losing the game by 8 wickets.

Team India is now very unlikely to qualify for the semis but there’s still some hope left, also depending upon the fate of the other teams. But Indian fans always need a scapegoat and post the defeat by the New Zealand team, the scapegoat seems to be the Indian Premier League. Yes, you read that right.

Following India’s defeat, several people took to their Twitter and slammed the Indian team for their disappointing performance, while taking a dig at them for performing better in the Indian Premier League and even in advertisements.

Yes, ‘Ban IPL’ started trending on Twitter following India’s defeat as Indian fans blamed the cash-rich league for team India’s failures.
