India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer made his debut for the Indian cricket team in the longest format of the game on Thursday during the first Test match against New Zealand at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.
The talented right-hander got the opportunity in the absence of key players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul but Iyer didn’t let the pressure get to his head and gave a crucial performance just when the team needed it the most.
Shreyas impressed one and all with his cuts and pulls, as he registered his first half-century, playing in his maiden Test match for India. At the end of the day, Iyer remained unbeaten on 75 runs. He smashed some stunning sixes and regular boundaries as he entertained the crowd at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur throughout his knock.
The crowd also motivated for the debutant throughout his knock and were even heard chanting “5 Rupay Ki Pepsi, Iyer Bhai Sexy” as the right-hander continued to smash the tired New Zealand bowlers in the third session. The video of the same has been going viral on the internet.
