Indian Cricket Fans Chant “Pakistan Murdabad” In Kanpur

Indian fans chant “Pakistan murdabad” at the Green Park: The first Test of the two-match series between India and New Zealand started on 25th November in Kanpur. Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat first and a slow, low pitch at the Green Park.

Indian cricket team gave a thumping performance in the T20I series and white-washed New Zealand in the most conniving manner, under the newly appointed captain Rohit Sharma and newly appointed head coach Rahul Dravid.

India got off to a sluggish start as Mayank Agarwal, who was making a comeback of sorts, in the absence of first-choice opener, fell to Kylie Jamieson’s bowling for just 13 runs. However, his partner Shubman Gill looked solid in the middle before he got out for 52, again off Jamieson’s bowling.

During the opening partnership, in the sixth over, an interesting happened when fans in the stadium started chanting anti-Pakistan slogans from the stands. India and Pakistan have not played a series against each other since 2012 and the way Pakistan board, cricketers, former cricketers and fans reacted after defeating India in the T20 World Cup was very cheap and below the belt, to say the least.

In the sixth over of the Indian innings, when Mayank Agarwal and Shubhman Gill were busy seeing off the new ball, fans at the Green Park stadium started chanting “Pakistan Murdabad” and the sloganeering went on for a few minutes.

Indian cricket fans and Pakistan cricket fans have been at the loggerheads with each other since forever but it has escalated to a new level after Pakistani fans crossed the line and turned cricket related arguments into communal arguments.

The heat between both sides of fans was felt at the Green Park in Kanpur when Indian cricket fans started chanting “Pakistan Murdabad” during a Test match between India and New Zealand.
