No Place For Virat Kohli In Sanjay Manjrekar’s All-Time XI

Former Indian cricketer and commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar, who is known for his bold opinions on cricket, recently named his all-time XI and has picked former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan as the captain of his team.

Sanjay Manjrekar, who made his debut for team India in 1987, has played for India in a career spanning over a decade. Manjrekar has played for team India in 37 Tests, and 74 ODIs. However, he has been more successful and influential as a commentator.

Lately, an old interview, where Sanjay Manjrekar had collaborated with Lord’s Cricket Ground, has resurfaced on social media and is going viral.

Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay Manjrekar picked former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara as the openers of his team, maintaining the left-right combination. Manjrekar also praised Gavaskar as the main reason he started playing a cricketer in his younger days.

For no.3 position, Manjrekar picked Caribbean batsman Vivian Richards, who was followed by Sachin Tendulkar at No. 4 and Brian Lara at No. 5, respectively. Former Australian captain Steve Wagh was picked at the No. 6 position.

Interestingly, the former India player didn’t pick MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma in his playing XI. He picked the legendary Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan as the captain of his playing xi ahead of anyone else. In the fast-bowling department, Manjrekar picked Malcolm Marshall, Wasim Akram, and Sir Richard Hadlee.

Here’s Sanjay Manjrekar all-time XI:

Sunil Gavaskar, Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Sir Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Steve Waugh, Imran Khan (c), Malcolm Marshall, Wasim Akram, Sir Richard Hadlee, Shane Warne.
