IPL 2022: Here’s The Flop XI Of Players Who Have Failed To Make An Impact

These players have failed well short of the expectations in IPL 2022.

IPL 2022: Like the way the Indian Premier League has played host to the rise of giants, similarly, it has witnessed below-par performances, especially going by the high standards that an individual plying his trade in the IPL is known for.

The story has been nothing different for this year’s IPL either as there have been heroes and villains alike. In our previous stories, we highlighted the best player from every single team.

In this story, we will piece together the flop XI of IPL 2022, a slew of players who are still to come out in their shining best.

Openers of IPL 2022 flop XI: Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ishan Kishan had a boatload of money splurged on him and yet somehow his figures have been highly questionable. Somehow, he has just failed to connect with the cherry and has struggled to put together those important runs that are usually expected of him.

Ruturaj Gaikwad did manage to find his stride in the last game but somehow it has so far been one of the worst IPLs for the youngster after a season that blew him out of proportion.

Middle Order of IPL 2022 flop XI:: Virat Kohli, Jonny Bairstow, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, Kieron Pollard

Virat Kohli did manage to get a couple of good knocks but somehow has lost the plot completely as the latest games suggest. He has been struggling vehemently in the middle of utter chaos, getting out in the worst possible ways, two of which include getting run out where his body language was just abysmal.

Jonny Bairstow has surprisingly forgotten how to bat and the way he has struggled in the ongoing edition of the tournament will not just give frowns to his franchise but to England to as the forthcoming World Cup approaches.

Ambati Rayudu has managed to find a couple of decent knocks in IPL 2022 but with the kind of experience that he comes to the fold, the expectations are a million times higher for him and he has simply failed to repay the faith. He is supposed to be a middle-order stalwart instead of someone who plays the role of a bowling all-rounder, chipping in modest scores.

MS Dhoni started the tournament on a rambunctious note but fizzled away into oblivion as the tournament matured. It is needless to say that age has caught up with him and he needs to call it a day instead of pushing harder than ever, expecting to pull off a knock-out season. His body isn’t coordinating at all with his will.

Kieron Pollard was retained by the Mumbai Indians and yet the figures that he has produced is not something that is usually expected from a retained player. He has played one good blitzkrieg but from thereon, he has just been an expletive, making the headcount for the Mumbai Indians.

Bowlers of IPL 2022 flop XI:: Pat Cummins, Varun Chakravarthy, Chris Jordan, Kagiso Rabada

Pat Cummins has turned out into one of the most expensive bowlers of IPL 2022 wherein, he is supposed to play a role of a leader for the Knights. He has been whacked left, right and center without any hesitation whatsoever. The fact that he is one of the best fast bowlers in the world at the moment, has not been respected.

Varun Chakravarthy has somehow made this a mystery how did KKR retain him? He is peppered to every single nook and cranny of the park and he has no answer whatsoever. With the surfaces doing their trick, Varun has failed miserably to conjure something that can actually validate his price.

Chris Jordan has been worse than a net bowler this season and Rashid Khan’s belligerence probably poked a finger in his eye to show how bad has he been. He has lost his line and length and somehow his pace has been below par.

Kagiso Rabada is expected to produce something better as his reputation precedes and so far the performances that he has put, beg the question of that is Punjab actually missing out on Nathan Ellis?
