IPL 2022: Mumbai Indians Is Getting Trolled Left, Right And Center On Twitter

IPL 2022: Even though the two teams are languishing at the bottom of the points table, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians gave another classic to their fans. The El Clásico of the IPL, the biggest rivalry in the league with the two most successful sides in the IPL history, was, on Thursday, delivered a thriller which was eventually decided by the magician, the greatest finisher ever, MS Dhoni.

Chasing 156, CSK had brought it down to 17 runs required in the last over. Jaydev Unadkat trapped Dwaine Pretorius lbw on the first ball and with Dhoni still off strike the task looked improbable.

Bravo took a single on the second ball leaving Dhoni to get 16 off the remaining four deliveries. ‘Thala’ did – also helped by some poor bowling from Unadkat. A six down the ground to a ball in the slot followed by a top-edge boundary to a bouncer. Another full ball, flicked for a couple.

4 needed from the last ball. The odds now in favour of MS Dhoni who, in his mind, would have wanted something exactly like this to get Unadkat under pressure. The plan worked as Unadkat, aiming for the yorker, dished out a low full toss with the fine leg up in the circle. Dhoni brought up his bottom hand to whip it in the vacant region behind the square on the leg side to complete another of his memorable, calm finishes.

MI, though, at one point, looked in a position to win the game with CSK 106/6, but the hopes for CSK remained alive until Dhoni was at the crease.

Asked to bat first, Mumbai once again had a poor start with both the openers dismissed for ducks. Mukesh Choudhary snapped three wickets in the powerplay. Tilak Varma once again showed his brilliant character and high maturity to take MI to 155 with a half-century, supported by the likes of Suryakumar, Pollard, Shokeen, and Unadkat.

However, that wasn’t enough for MI who now have lost their 7th match of the season and remain the only winless side. MI’s hopes of reaching the playoffs are virtually dead and even a miraculous turnaround won’t seal a spot in the top four.

The five-time champions were trolled heavily on Twitter for their disappointing show.
