Yuvraj Singh Explains How Virat Kohli Can Become The Best Again

To get back to his best form, former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has advised Virat Kohli to be the “free-flowing personality” once again as he had been earlier. There has been a lot of scrutiny on Kohli’s form over the past year.

And while earlier he had been scoring runs, timing the ball well, notching up fifties regularly, now, even that has dried up. Kohli is struggling to middle the ball, place it where he wants to. His last three innings – two golden ducks followed by a streaky, lucky, 10-ball stay for 9 runs – have been painful, frustrating to watch, to accept for the fans.

In the ongoing IPL 2022 season, Kohli has scored only 128 runs in 8 innings with not a single half-century yet. His average of 16 – which his worst season average since 2008 – is only better than youngster Suyash Prabhudessai for RCB batters who have batted in the top 7 this season.

Speaking at an event for channel Sports18, Kohli’s friend and former teammate Yuvraj Singh was asked about what should Kohli do to get out of this horrible rut. The left-hander feels that Kohli should leave all his mental baggage behind and be the relaxed, unworried personality he was earlier when he plundered truckloads of runs.

“Obviously, he is also not happy, and people aren’t too, because we have seen him setting bigger benchmarks, scoring hundreds after hundreds. But this happens to the best players,” Yuvraj said.

“Virat needs to become a free-flowing personality again. If he can change himself and be like how he was earlier that will reflect in his game. He has proved himself to be the best of this era and believes in a strong work ethic and that has brought the best out of him over the years,” he added.

RCB are at the fifth position in the points table with 5 wins in 9 matches. They have looked a strong unit but their batting has fallen apart in the last two matches, being bowled out for 68 and 115. They will want their talisman batsman, Kohli, to return to his best soon as the business end of the tournament approaches.
