IPL 2022: Angry Graeme Smith Trolled Kevin Pietersen For Speaking “Rubbish”

Former cricketers Graeme Smith and Kevin Pietersen were indulged in a hilarious banter as Punjab Kings locked its horns with Gujarat Titans on Tuesday at the DY Patil Stadium. Liam Livingstone stole the show with stunning strokeplay as he smashed the GT bowlers to all the corners of the ground to help his team register their 5th win of the season.

Livingstone smashed the sensational Mohammed Shami for three maximums and two fours, also hitting a gigantic six measurings 117 meters, which is the longest six in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League so far.

Former cricketer turned commentator Kevin Pietersen was also left in awe of that beautiful six by Liam. In the commentary box, Kevin Pietersen admitted that there have been a few such hits in the cricket world, he said: “I have never seen a six as big as that one” But that’s not it while praising Livingstone for his stunning six, KP took a hilarious dig at Graeme Smith.

Well, the incident happened in the 14th over, when the official broadcasters decided to show the most number of six hitters in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League.

As Kevin Pietersen completed reading the stats, he praised Livingstone by saying: “Liam Livingstone might not have hit many, but he has hit the biggest (Six of the tournament)” He then jokingly asked Graeme Smith “Have you ever hit a six in your career, Mr. Smith?”

Following this, the camera cut to the commentary box where Pietersen can be seen laughing with Murali Kartik over his comment. However, Graeme Smith looked displeased and uninterested in the banter and said that he doesn’t want to waste time with Pietersen’s ‘rubbish’ banter, before he came up with an epic reply of his own. He said:

“I need to waste my time with your rubbish….Did you ever win an IPL“.

For the unversed, while Graeme Smith was a part of the IPL in 2008 with Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, Pietersen, who played in the IPL from 2008 to 2016, never managed to be a part of any of the IPL winning sides.
