IPL 2022: KL Rahul Shared The Biggest Reason Why LSG Lost Against RCB

KL Rahul Shared The Biggest Reason Why LSG Lost Against RCB: The Lucknow Super Giants’ campaign in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League came to an end on Wednesday after they were defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.

Royal Challengers Bangalore had posted a big total of 208 runs, riding on the stellar knock of 112* runs off 54 balls. Chasing a huge total of 208 runs, LSG showed immense fighting spirit but ended on 196/3 despite a brilliant knock of 79 off 58 balls by captain KL Rahul.

Despite coming close to the target, a few tight overs in the end by Harshal Patel and Josh Hazlewood crushed the hopes of KL Rahul and his squad.

After the match, as celebrations kickstarted in the RCB camp, there was heartbreak in the LSG dugout. During the post-match presentation, KL Rahul listed obvious reasons for LSG’s loss to RCB as he blamed sloppy fielding for his team’s 14-run defeat at the hands of RCB.

KL Rahul blamed sloppy fielding as the reason behind LSG’s defeat

For the unversed, Rajat Patidar was dropped thrice during the game en route to his hundred, and Rahul was livid with his team’s fielding. Speaking about the same, Rahul said:

“I think it’s quite obvious – the reasons why we didn’t win. We let ourselves down in the field. Dropping easy catches never helps. Difference was obviously Patidar playing such a knock. When someone in the top three scores a hundred, more often the team wins,”

He added: “They fielded really well and we were poor,”

However, Rahul was happy that his team finished in the top four in their maiden season. He said: “We’ll take back a lot of positives. It’s a new franchise. We’ve made a lot of mistakes, every team does that. Have to try and come back stronger. It’s a young team. They’ll learn from their mistakes, go back home and try and be better players.”

Rahul on Mohsin Khan’s brilliant effort

Furthermore, KLR heaped praises on Mohsin Khan, who once again turned out to be a silver lining in the darkest clouds. He said:

Mohsin showed everybody how good he is and what skill he possesses. As he grows with confidence, he’ll be able to clock speeds which are much higher. He will learn and develop a few more skills hopefully by next season.”
