The then vice-captain of India’s limited-overs team Rohit Sharma was in a surreal form with the willow as he smashed as many as five tons to etch his name in the history books forever.

Rohit was on fire all throughout the tournament, smashing 5 hundred to not just end the World Cup as the highest run-getter from the Indian side but also claimed the world record for scoring most centuries in a single edition of the marque tournament.

Rohit’s first century came against South Africa, then against Pakistan, England, and Bangladesh. However, on this day, he scored a century against Sri Lanka in the final league game of India in the 2019 World Cup which helped him write his name in the golden letters in World Cup history.

All thanks to his performance in the 2019 World Cup, he leapfrogged Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara who previously held the record by scoring 4 hundred in the 2015 World Cup. Ironically, the ton that helped Rohit break the record came against Sri Lanka.

Well, the centuries didn’t end there. Rohit smashed his sixth century of the prestigious tournament by smashing 103 runs off 94 delivery. His knock was laced with 14 fours and 2 maximums.

Rohit ended the 2019 World Cup with a total of 648 runs from 5 games with the highest score of 140 coming against India*s arch-rivals Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has finally joined the Men in Blue ahead of the first T20I at Southampton.  Rohit was supposed but he couldn’t after Testing positive for COVID-19 just days before the match. However, he has now tested negative for the disease and was seen sweating it out in the nets ahead of the much-awaited return.
